Lettuce loans had planned to publish a comprehensive blog on the effects and potential consequences of South Africa’s Annual National budget on Credit Consumers in South Africa which was scheduled to be delivered by the Finance Minister on Wednesday, 19 February 2025. However, in an unprecedented turn of events, for the first time in 30 years, since democracy in 1994, the tabling of the budget was cancelled indefinitely due to disagreements within the South African Government of National Unity, mainly around the proposal of a VAT increase from 15% to 17%, among other things.
